Hemant Soren sworn in as Jharkhand CM for third time

Ranchi | Correspondent: Hemant Soren has been sworn in as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand for the third time.

He took the oath as the 13th Chief Minister of Jharkhand at the Raj Bhavan on Thursday. The oath of office and secrecy was administered by Governor CP Radhakrishnan.

Champai Soren resigned from the Chief Minister’s post after the India Alliance meeting on Wednesday.

Hemant Soren had previously resigned as Chief Minister on January 31 following his arrest by the Central Investigation Agency. After his resignation, Champai Soren assumed the role of Chief Minister. Hemant Soren was recently released on bail.

The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) had earlier announced that Governor CP Radhakrishnan had invited Hemant Soren to form the government, with the oath-taking ceremony initially scheduled for July 7. However, the JMM-led coalition later decided that Hemant Soren would take the oath on Thursday instead.

Hemant Soren becomes Chief Minister for the third time

This marks Hemant Soren’s third term as Chief Minister. He first took office on July 13, 2013, serving for 1 year and 168 days. His second term began on December 29, 2019, lasting four years and 188 days until his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on January 31 in a money laundering case.
